DIT Systems and SMART Telecom

launch mobile microloans service

in Burundi

Digital Innovation Technology Systems (ISTD) Ltd. ("DIT Systems"), developer, integrator and aggregator of sophisticated VAS and telecommunications solutions, have partnered with Smart East Africa, the people’s network, to launch "SMART NDEPANA", a new mobile microloan service for customers in Burundi. From August 26, 2016, SMART NDEPANA will give all pre-paid SMART subscribers access to advance airtime loans, enabling them to continue to use SMART services without interruption, even with low or zero balances.

SMART NDEPANA allows customers to receive mobile loans either on request or automatically via free subscription. If requested, the subscriber will receive an SMS with a tailored, based in their spending habits, loan offer whenever their balance is close to zero, and will be able to request the desired amount up to the sum indicated in the offer. If automatically subscribed, the maximum loan available to the subscriber will be automatically credited to their account whenever the balance is close to zero. To request a tailored loan or subscribe to the automatic loan service, the subscriber only has to send a simple USSD or SMS command. Using the same command, they will also be able to check loan eligibility, debt status, and request a specific or maximum available amount to be advanced.

The SMART NDEPANA service is available to all pre-paid SMART subscribers who have been active for at least 180 days and who have topped-up their account at least once in the last 30 days.
